Give in memory

Donating in memory

Anniversaries, birthdays and other special times of year can be particularly difficult. Donating in someone's memory is a very meaningful way to remember them as it both celebrates their life and helps others at the same time.  We are always very honoured and grateful to receive these donations.

Funeral collections

Collecting donations at a funeral or memorial service can make a lasting difference to a cause that was close to your loved one's heart. You might choose to do this by asking for donations instead of flowers. At this difficult time, the funeral director is  usually able to assist. Alternatively, family and friends can send the donation directly to the BTF.

Donations can be made in any of the following ways:

Online Our quick and secure online form makes it easy to donate in memory

By cheque: Please send cheques payable to 'The British Thyroid Foundation' to:

British Thyroid Foundation
Suite 12, One Sceptre House
Hornbeam Square North
Hornbeam Park

By adding Gift Aid to donations, we will receive an extra 25p for every £1 at no extra cost to the donor.

Read Billy's story

William (Billy) Birch was born with hypothyroidism in 1944. This was well before the introduction of the heel prick test, which detects congenital hypothyroidism at birth. Following his death, Billy's family kindly donated Billy's funeral collection to the BTF and shared details of his life with us.

Holding an 'in memory' fundraiser

If you would like to set up a fundraiser activity in memory of your loved one, we can help

Take part in a BTF fundraiser We hold regular fundraising challenges across the UK (please note some of our events are cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak)

Set up your own fundraiser If you would like to hold your own fundraiser, you can set up your own webpage on our secure fundraising platform. Your supporters can donate quickly and easily with a credit or debit card and the money raised comes straight to us, removing the hassle of having to collect the funds at this difficult time. If your supporters are UK taxpayers they can also opt to Gift Aid their donation. Use photos, add a story and your fundraising target and then you can let all your friends and family know about your challenge by sharing your fundraising page.

If you would like more information, please contact us [email protected] and we would be happy to help you.
