BTF Telephone helpline

Our telephone helpline is available Monday to Thursday between 10am - 4pm. Please dial 07561 612011 or 07561 605643.

(Please note these are different from our usual numbers since BTF staff are currently working from home and are not able to work from the office.)

Calls to these numbers are confidential and can help you find the answer to general questions about thyroid conditions. It is suitable for patients (and their carers) who are newly diagnosed or have long standing thyroid conditions. Calls are answered by trained staff with thyroid experience, who understand the issues you might be facing. We are here to listen and provide clear and up-to-date information. We can also signpost you to further support and information.

We may not be available to answer every call straightaway but there is a message facility which you can use to leave your name and contact number. If you do this we will try our best to call you back within 48 hours. At busy times this may take longer. 

By phoning us you are providing consent for us to process your data in order to provide you with the information or services you are contacting us about. Your personal details will only be used to provide you with information or services you have requested.

The cost of calls from mobiles and other networks may vary so please check with your service provider.

Text message helpline

You can also ask your questions by sending us a text message and we will respond to you. Please text us on 07561 612011 or 07561605643.

This service is available Mondays to Fridays. We will aim to reply promptly, often within 24 hours, except at weekends and Bank Holidays. However, at busy times it may take up to five working days before you receive a response. 

Please note:

  • This service is aimed to provide general information and support. If you need to speak to someone or have longer, more complex questions, it may be more appropriate for you to email us on [email protected]
  • This service isn’t for crises or emergency medical help. We are not a substitute for medical care and advice from your own doctor or specialist. Our staff are not trained or experienced to deal with mental health issues.
  • We will aim to reply to you promptly but at busy times, responding to you may take longer and it may take up to five working days before you receive a response.
  • This is a UK based service and we may not be familiar with treatment protocols for patients who live elsewhere
  • Your anonymised enquiry and reply may be published for the benefit of other thyroid patients in our online and printed communications materials
  • Your call or text to us will be charged at your standard network rate. If you have free text messages as part of your contract, your text to us will be free. If you are texting from abroad, the cost of your text will depend on your contract so please do check with your provider.
