This was my first marathon and when I signed I wanted not only to challenge myself but also put my efforts towards a worthwhile cause that was very close to my heart. The weather was perfect and it felt amazing starting the race surrounded by runners of all shapes and sizes who all had their own reason to complete the 42k. This in itself was a massive inspiration. The atmosphere, crowds, and support from friends and family really pulled me along when things got tough. Knowing that friends and family had donated to the British Thyroid Foundation gave me that extra push; I didn’t want to let myself, them, or the charity down."
