'Have a Good Brew' fundraising event

Will you 'Have a Good Brew' for thyroid awareness?

via GIPHY

As your own experiences may tell, thyroid disease can be an ‘invisible illness.’

Symptoms can go undetected or be confused with other conditions sometimes leading to delayed diagnosis and unnecessary suffering by patients.

We are determined to increase awareness of thyroid disease so that people can recognise symptoms and receive earlier diagnosis and treatment.

Will you help us put a spotlight on thyroid disease by having a Good Brew?

What it involves

Invite friends, family or colleagues to get together to ‘Have a Good Brew.’ And while enjoying your brew and refreshments, why not take the opportunity to let them know more about thyroid disease?

Whether it is a quick tea break at work, a long overdue catch-up, or a social with others from the thyroid community, it is also a great opportunity to raise vital funds for our work. Tombolas, bake sales and quizzes are just some of the ways to boost your fundraising efforts.

How we can support you

To help you to ‘Have a Good Brew’, our free fundraising event pack gives you everything you need to make the perfect blend. Our pack contains:

  • A BTF tablecloth
  • Templates to make your own bunting and cake toppers
  • Poster to advertise your event
  • Donation sign
  • Thyroid fact sheet
  • Gift Aid form so you can boost donations by 25%
  • Order form for free literature and bookmarks for your guests

We can also help you with:

  • Setting up a fundraising page on our secure BTF site
  • GIFs to use on social media to help advertise your event
  • Sharing any social posts about your ‘Have a Good Brew’ event. Just tag us @britishthyroid so we can help you spread the word.

You can either download your material (see below) to print at home or we can send you your fundraising event pack in the post.

Please note: We would need to send you a tablecloth and any bookmarks in the post.

When is tea time?

It’s always the right time to ‘Have a Good Brew’ in our opinion! You may wish to hold it during International Thyroid Awareness Week which takes place at the end of May. It’s entirely up to you!

How will it make a difference?

As well as creating greater awareness of thyroid conditions, all proceeds will ensure we can continue to offer free information and support to help people live better with thyroid disease. They will also fund much-needed research into thyroid disease.

These are just some of the ways your donations help:

£5 pays for an information pack for five newly diagnosed patients

£10 enables us to reply to two patient medical queries

£25 pays for the BTF telephone helpline for one month

£50 contributes to our annual £20,000 BTF Research Award supporting much-needed thyroid research

How do I get started?

    • Set a date and location
    • Complete one of our fundraising forms to register your ‘Have a Good Brew’ event and claim your free fundraising pack. Alternatively, please email us [email protected] and we can send you a form.
    • Once you have completed your form, either email it to us at the email address above or post it back to the address given on the form and we will send you your free pack.
    • Put the kettle on and invite people to join you!
