I am running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October this year to help raise funds for the British Thyroid Foundation.

I am raising money for this charity as their information and support has, and is helping me through ongoing treatment of hyperthyroidism caused by Graves Disease.
Graves Disease is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system turns against the thyroid gland, which in response becomes hyperactive.

Running a half marathon will be a challenge but I'd like to help raise funds and more awareness of thyroid conditions and the effect it can have on people's lives. Running has been helping me manage the symptoms and effects of the condition/treatment.

Let the training begin! Heather Tunnicliffe
