Get involved Fundraise for us Fundraising FAQS Q. How do I create my fundraising page? A. You can create a secure fundraising page on our website through the 'fundraise your way' tab. This will allow you to set up your very own secure page so your supporters can donate quickly and easily with a credit or debit card. The money you raise comes straight to us saving you the hassle of transferring funds. You can also use photos, add a story, and set your fundraising target to encourage people to donate. Please note: We will be charged 1.3% + 20p by our payment provider on each donation made. Q. How many T-shirts/running vests can I have? A. If you are doing your challenge as a group, we will supply free tops for up to two participants once you have raised £50 towards your overall fundraising goal. If you are doing a running event, please order a vest. Our T-shirts are heavy cotton and are not suitable for running in. Additional BTF tops can be purchased from our online shop Q. What happens after I have registered for an event and paid my deposit? A. After you have registered and paid your deposit, we will email you asking you to confirm your place and complete our sponsorship form and return it to us. Once we have received your completed sponsorship form, we can advertise your event. Once you have raised £50 towards your overall fundraising goal, we will send you a BTF running top or T-shirt (not suitable for running in) to wear on the day. Q. What happens if I don't reach my fundraising target? A. When you register for a BTF charity place in a challenge event, we ask that you raise a minimum amount (unless you have purchased your own place). This will be stated at the time of booking. This is necessary due to the cost of places in some races/events and to ensure we raise vital funds to support the thyroid community. If you do not meet the fundraising target, you will need to make up the difference. Q. How do I increase my donations? A. It can seem daunting to reach your fundraising target but there are lots of ways to boost your donations. One simple way is to remind people again about your fundraising event by sharing it on social media. One way to keep it fresh is to share updates about how your training's going. If you use a fitness app, remember to log any training runs and share them. Research shows that fundraisers who share these with their followers raise up to 40% more! If you're doing a sporting challenge, how about organising a sweepstake on your finishing time and giving a small prize to whoever has the closest guess? Or think about how you can make your 'ask' stand out from others. How about doing your event in fancy dress or colouring your hair for extra attention and pledges? Don't forget to post regular updates to your supporters, reminding them why you're taking the challenge and what difference it will make to the thyroid community. . For example, if you're training for a challenge, could you post updates about how your training's going? Q. What happens if I have purchased my own fundraising place? A. If you have purchased your own place in an event, we won't ask you to pay an additional registration fee or raise a minimum amount. Just raise what you can through any fundraising platform (Enthuse, JustGiving, or the BTF platform). We can also send you a running vest or T-shirt* once you have raised £50 towards your fundraising goal, as well as details of how we can support you. Q. What if I have set up a fundraising platform that's not on the BTF platform? A. If you have set up either an Enthuse, JustGiving, or a page on another fundraising platform we can link it to our website, giving your challenge extra publicity. Q. I want to fundraise for you but am not interested in doing a physical challenge. How else can I support you? A. There are so many ways to support us that don’t involve participating in an event.
