If you're struggling with a question about your thyroid condition, you are very welcome to contact our thyroid query  service.

Please read the information below before submitting your enquiry:

We are unable to provide names of endocrinologists for anyone seeking second opinions from the NHS or for private consultations.

Your GP should be able to provide you with a referral for a second opinion or you can locate a local endocrinologist via the NHS  website.

We will try to answer your email promptly by providing clear and up-to-date information or to signpost you to further support and information. Because of the high volume of medical queries we receive, we will prioritise those from BTF members.

Please note:

  • This service aims to provide general information and support. 
  • We cannot provide medical advice or a personal consultation.
  • This service is not for crises or emergency medical help. We are not a substitute for medical care and advice from your own doctor or specialist.
  • Our staff are not trained to deal with mental health issues.
  • We will aim to reply to you within seven working days but during busy periods this may take longer.
  • Medical queries may be referred (without any identifying information) to one of our medical advisors where appropriate. In this case, you may need to wait longer to receive a reply.
  • This is a UK-based service and we may not be familiar with treatment protocols for patients who live elsewhere.
  • Your anonymised enquiry and reply may be published for the benefit of other thyroid patients in our online and printed communications materials

When you contact us you are providing consent for us to process your data to provide you with the information or services you are contacting us about. Your personal details will only be used by us to provide you with the information or services you have requested.

Telephone enquiries

If you would prefer to speak to someone about a thyroid condition, you are welcome to phone us between the hours of 11 AM - 3 PM on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday on 01423 810093.

If you are calling with a membership query or need to speak to a member of our office team, our office is open 09:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday to Thursday.

We may not be available to answer every call straight away as our staff also have other responsibilities. If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a message with your name and contact number and we will try our best to call you back within 48 hours. At busy times this may take longer. Please note that our office is closed on Fridays and at weekends.

The cost of calls from mobiles and other networks may vary so please check with your service provider.
