Get involved Fundraise for us Harry’s charity football game for BTF 2025 Harry was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism when he was just 11 days old. His mum, Keeley, describes the shock of hearing this news: The hospital told us we needed to come in urgently, as something had been flagged on Harry’s heel prick test. Once there, we learned that Harry had an issue with his thyroid. At the time, we had no idea what this meant for him or for us as a family. After a week of tests, we were told that Harry had hypothyroidism and would need lifelong medication. Today, Harry takes tablets every morning and is closely monitored by the paediatrics team at our hospital. To mark Harry’s birthday, his family organised a ‘Mums vs Dads’ football match to raise awareness and vital funds. Harry’s family raised £2,300 for the BTF. Football has always been close to our hearts — both of us played at high levels when we were younger — so it felt only right to mark the occasion with a special “Mums vs Dads” match. From the first whistle, the yellows came out fighting. After a rousing team talk, they struck early with a brilliant header into the top corner. Confidence grew, and by half-time they were storming ahead 6–0. The reds weren’t going down without a fight, though. With a goalkeeper swap and an extra player, they came back strong in the second half, scoring three goals. But the yellows sealed the deal with one more strike, taking a well-deserved 7–4 victory. It was a fantastic day filled with laughter, cheers from the sidelines, delicious bakes from the cake sale, and most importantly, a wonderful celebration of Harry’s birthday.
