In August, Lily took part in the London Triathlon to fundraise for us. She said: I did the Olympic distance event which comprised a 1500m swim, 40 km bike ride, and a 10 km run. This was my first ever triathlon. The swim was open water in the Royal Albert
Dock, so it was all very new and I was very nervous about doing it. On the race day, the atmosphere and support were amazing and I had a great time! I chose to support the BTF because my dad, Prof Simon Pearce, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year and had successful surgery to treat it. He is an endocrinologist and researches and treats patients with thyroid disorders, as well as being a trustee of the BTF. Having also seen first-hand the impact of thyroid disease through my own medical studies, it was a really important cause for me to raise awareness and money for.

Lily raised £1,360 for the BTF.
