In October, people around the country put on their walking shoes to show solidarity for the UK’s large thyroid community.

Dr Tim Yusuf & Dr Husam Wassati - Raised £304 for the BTF

We had some medical professionals join in this year’s Stride. Dr Tim Yusuf and Dr Husam Wassati completed theirs to raise awareness of microwave thyroid ablation, a pioneering treatment they are starting to use for thyroid nodules.

Craig - Raised £173, doing 60,000 steps during October

I decided to raise awareness to let people know that there is hope, there are things you can do beyond taking your tablets... I'm early in my journey, but I've lost 2 stone by understanding I have food allergies, managing my symptoms, reducing my inflammation, and controlling stress through things like walking.

Ollie - Raised £597 walking 20 miles of the Cleveland way

Rhiannon and family - raised £838 on their coastal walk

Harry was just nine days old when he was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism. His mum, Rhiannon, said: ‘We wanted to take part because when our own son was diagnosed, we realised there is little information and we didn't know what it meant for him growing up. Having that support from the BTF who help so many people.

Jess - Raised £224 doing daily countryside walks

I wanted to take part in BTF because, I would like to help others with it and to help others who don’t have to understand what it’s like to live with it and how it can affect you in other ways, and what you can get from it!

Lenny & Family- Raised £1,069 walking in West Sussex

After Lenny's diagnosis of Grave's disease earlier this year, we decided to take part in Stride for Thyroid to help fund research and support for people with Thyroid disorders.

Lauren - Raised £147 for the BTF

I was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and I have struggled with symptoms for years, and wish it had been caught sooner. I would like to raise more awareness for thyroid conditions and to help raise money for more research into thyroid conditions and treatment to help more people get correct diagnoses and treatment."

Peta - Raised £454, walking 200,00 throughout October

Peta clocked up an impressive 73 miles and over 200,000 steps walking throughout October. She told us: BTF has given me access to so much valuable, trusted, and well-sourced information since my shock diagnosis of hypothyroidism. I wanted to try and give a little back to ensure good research prevails and others benefit from its support and accessibility.
