If you would like more information about your thyroid condition, please get in touch in the following ways:

BTF telephone helpline

Our telephone helpline is available Monday to Thursday between 10am - 4pm. Please dial 01423 810093.

Calls to these numbers are confidential and can help you find the answer to general questions about thyroid conditions. It is suitable for patients (and their carers) who are newly diagnosed or have long standing thyroid conditions. Calls are answered by trained staff with thyroid experience, who understand the issues you might be facing. We are here to listen and provide clear and up-to-date information. We can also signpost you to further support and information.

We may not be available to answer every call straightaway as our staff also have other responsibilities. If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a message with your name and contact number and we will try our best to call you back within 48 hours. At busy times this may take longer. Please note that our office is closed on Fridays and on weekends.

By phoning us you are providing consent for us to process your data in order to provide you with the information or services you are contacting us about. Your personal details will only be used to provide you with information or services you have requested.

The cost of calls from mobiles and other networks may vary so please check with your service provider.

Medical helpline

You can also ask us questions about thyroid disorders by sending us an email by filling out the medical query submission form

We will try to answer your email promptly by providing clear and up-to-date information or to signpost you to further support and information.

Because of the high volume of medical queries we are currently receiving we will prioritise those from BTF members.

Please note:

  • These services are aimed to provide general information and support.
  • These services aren’t for crises or emergency medical help. We are not a substitute for medical care and advice from your own doctor or specialist. Our staff are not trained or experienced to deal with mental health issues.
  • We will aim to reply to you promptly but at busy times, responding to you may take longer and it may take up to five working days before you receive a response.
  • These are UK-based services and we may not be familiar with treatment protocols for patients who live elsewhere.
  • Your anonymised enquiry and reply may be published for the benefit of other thyroid patients in our online and printed communications materials

When you contact us you are providing consent for us to process your data in order to provide you with the information or services you are contacting us about. Your personal details will only be used by us to provide you with the information or services you have requested.

Any data collected will be anonymised to help us in collecting statistics and evaluate our services.
